Hi Nick. Pat's numbers work out the same as mine. I normally prepare 1/4 kg of pellets at a time. Doing this I find it easier to get a more even coating to them all, rather than trying to cover large amounts. I use 7 squirts per 1/4 kg which would be 28/kg. I allow them to completely dry, then put then back it to the bag and use when ever required.
PS we have had a couple of frost already here too.
Hope this helps. Trev.

Hello Jamie.
I make nearly all my own ground baits here, as commercial ones are hard to come by. This one consisted of 4 parts corn meal, 6 parts brown crumb and 2 parts white crumb, to make a total weight of approx 1 kilo. As this lake has a very strong under tow I added 1 1/2 teaspoons of biosource to it. (basically my river mix). My normal lake mix would be 1 teaspoon. Just a handful of pineapple flavoured corn sprinkled over the top. I was fishing about 1 foot from the camera!!!!! We are sure that some of the big swirls are caused by fish being hooked. I took over 90lbs of fish that day from the one line right by the camera.

Hello all.
Do not forget to check out our new video clip, in "video gallery". This footage was taken just last weekend, with our underwater camera. There are some great close up shots of common carp and bluegills.

That is why I do not use maggots very often. Corn or pellet works most of the year, and as I do not ice fish, when maggots would be required, I can get away from them mst of the time.

Yes I just sprinkled it over the top. I am not sure if it works that well doing it this way. I have not yet done any testing with maggots. As I said before they are very expensive here, and with winter fishing except ice fishing being almost none existent I very rarely buy them. They are not generally stocked by tackle stores, and have to be ordered on-line. They are not sold by the pint but by approximately 1000 pieces which equates to less than 1/3 of a pint. This makes them with shipping etc. more than £15.00 a pint. I now have quite a large fish pond in my back garden which I have just started to stock. I only have gold fish in there at the moment, but they are a member of the carp family. Next year I will experiment with maggots and see what happens. I am sure they need leaving over night to get a better effect. I am sure if you were to use sticky mag with B in, it would work very well, but I have not tried this.

Hello Jamie.
We do not use maggots very often here in the US. too expensive. I did use some for a change just a couple of weeks ago, I was not sure myself how much to use, but I did add approx 1 tsp to 1/2 a pint. I added this just before fishing, but think it would have been better if I had added the night before.
I would be very interested in any results you find out using maggots and B.

I fished just below Dresden Lock last night, and what I seem to have become a expert at catching, I caught a very large soft shell turtle. Just ask Pat I seem to attract them like a magnet.

Hi Ian. Just think, the comments I get if I use one of my poles at its full length, I have both a carp & a match pole at 14.5m. The wife loves using my margin pole which is just 7.2m but she does well with it, and that causes quite a stir at times. Trev

Hi Ian.
I have found the same. Some will not change their ways. But others are intrigued. I have found it is the youngsters and the old timers that show the most interest. It seems to be the middle set, that will not change. Your hooks are to small, line to light, cannot see that tiny float and fishing with the pole, it is are you spear fishing, what are you going to catch with that thing. I guess you have heard them all as well.

It is a nice feeling Ian, when you are the only one catching. Pat and myself know that one quite well. It really hurts them when you turn up on their local pond, that you have never fished before yourself, and the you empty the place, with the locals not catching.

Well done Ian.
Glad to see you catching fish. Pat and myself have had similar experiences, with comments like "I did not know there were so many fish in the lake" or the classic one we get all the time is " you must have the lucky spot". Funny how we take that lucky spot to wherever we fish.
Keep on catching. Trev.

Hi Jamie.
I also air on the side of caution that if in doubt take it out and put some fresh bait on, and add a few more pellets etc to the swim at the same time.

Congrats to Pat for his second place on the St. Joe river in Indiana. Venue fished very hard, with no carp being landed. Suckers only for all "looks a bit like a barbel but not the same fight". Pat with just over 20lbs was a very good result for "B" and myself with just short of 13lbs was 5th overall. Our 2 weights were both 1 & 2 in our section, with all the other better weights coming from the other section. Most people in our section had less than 1 1/2lbs with only one small fish each.
Well done again Pat.

Hello Jamie.
I think it lasts for somewhere between 8 and 12 minutes when soaked overnight. Certain things like temperature, water movement etc make differences. The thing is if there is no water movement, 'b' is heavier than water, so will sit around the bait for longer. Personally if I do not get a bite within 8-10 minutes I always rebait.
