Fishing commercials in the UK that at which time were filled with many small carp, was very similar to fishing Volkening the other day. It actually reminded me of fishing Billhook lake which I fished and won matches on quite frequently. It becomes a speed thing when bites are coming so quickly.
But a geat fun day it was.

Pat and myself ventured out again this weekend with a trip to Volkening Paddle Boat lake at Schaumburg. This lake is full of mainly small carp, between 10 oz and 1 1/2 lbs. It was my turn to have first choice of swim, so I took the right hand side of the paddle boat dock. I tried to tempt Pat into a blank looking open water peg to my right, but he was not having any part of that. He took the left hand side of the dock. As soon as we put a bait in the water bites were immediate, which was fantastic, we were on for hopefully a good days fishing. We battled it out for nearly 5 hours, with the lead changing hands many a time during the day. The end result, was Pat with a very nice 72lbs, with myself just sneaking the win with 82lbs. But we both had a great days fishing, with bites constant all day. Cheers Pat. Trevor

Hello Andrew.
I also would like to welcome you to the clan. If there is anything you would like to know about the use of "B" I am happy to let you know anything I know. I was the original tester here in the US.

I think the magic couple of weeks this venue always shows this time of the year has probably passed its best. I fished it again last Sunday, this time I was down to 27 carp, for about the ton. Not bad but not as good as it has been. Still a great mornings fishing.

I went back again to Braidwood cooling lake Saturday. I could not get the same swim as last weekend, but fished a few swims down. Pat came along for a couple of hours and watched me. It started off like last week a few small cats, then an odd carp, followed by another 10 minutes or so later, with it getting better all the time. I ended up with 37 carp, never weighed them, but guess about 150lbs. Trev.

I managed to get out for a few hours Saturday morning, over at Braidwood cooling lake. I managed my heaviest catch, that I have weighed in, although I think I have had a heavier weight, a couple of years ago when I had 63 carp from the same swim, which I guesstimated at 240-250lbs. 54 carp, 1 flathead catfish and 6 bluegill for 212lbs 2oz. No monsters largest about 6-7lbs. I fished for 5 hours, had quite an audience at the end, this Mexican guy was fishing next to me, and got so intrigued he was making phone calls and getting people over to watch me. They could not believe the fact that I was getting bites within 10-15 seconds nearly every put in. "queued up big time". I had put in 2 big pots of ground bait in at the start, and then every put in using the toss pot, I had 4 or 5 grains of corn, the same 4 or 5 pellets, plugged off with ground bait. I started on small channel cats as normal, which I did not weigh throw them straight back in. The few bluegills I got hit the bait on the drop. My first carp came after 20 mins, the second about 10 mins after that, the 3rd within 4 or 5 minutes, then just a constant stream of fish from there onward. I fish my favourite swim on the north bank an the wind was blowing from the left and toward the shore. Trev.

Hello Nick.

Pat and myself, ventured back out to Braidwood Cooling lake last Saturday. It was my real first try of my new catfish bait, and it seems to work pretty well. The only problem with Braidwood is that it is full of cats between 8 & 10 ounces. I was trying to hook one of the larger ones in the lake so I was fishing with a 22 mm size bait. The problem was I got literally dozens of bites, but with very few fish, as the small cats hit the bait really hard, but obviously could not get such a large bait into their mouths properly. Don't like to mention it, but we were also fishing for carp, and Pat gave me a good bashing, with 96lbs of carp to my 50lbs.
Tight lines Trev.

The very small piece of corn trick, I found devastating years ago when fishing early to late spring. Great result.
