Just back from our annual trip to Holland.
Weather was generally sunny but winds were from North or North West which meant that unless you had wind off your back it felt quite cold at times.
Everything is behind at the moment and the fish have only just started spawning.
Because of the weather me and my mate fished the same area of the Voorne for 6 out of 8 days. Not the best way to do things but we knew we could catch fish, particularly as everyone else was struggling all over the place.
My weights for the week were 47lb, 92lb (both bottom end of Voorne), 17lb (Haringvliet), 120lb (bottom end of Voorne), 38lb (peg 214 on Voorne), 186lb, 199lb and 109lb (all bottom end of Voorne).
Out of the 10 of us these were far and away the best weights. Mine was top weight on 5 out of 8 days.
Some struggled for the week and others had fish one day but nothing the next. There were quite a few blanks.
Apart from the 17lb weight which was caught on maggot on the feeder on the Haringvliet everything else was caught on pellet or corn.
Pellet was better bait at start of week but for the last few days corn worked best.
In addition to a bucket of groundbait, most days I fed 4-6 pints of B soaked 4mm pellets.
Because the fish didn't really have their heads down I had loads of liners and foul hooked fish. On the last day I weighed 109lb. which was 34 fish but I estimated that I lost about 25 fish.
Already looking forward to next year. Lets hope everything gets back to normal on the weather front.
