Last weekend 15 / 16 may, I was fortunate enough to go camping with my eldest son and his scout troop on a private stretch of the river in Sisterdale. I had been out there once before and seen some good carp in a big slack at the bottom of a gravel run, under some Cypress trees. We arrived about midday and after pitching camp, I went to the spot I had seen and feed about a cans worth of corn which had, along with three other cans been soaking in a B- compulsion solution for the past week. After the afternoon scout activities, I returned to start fishing. Hook bait was a piece of pineapple monster maize, hair rigger and held on the bottom with a 1 once flat lead. I then simply engaged the bait feeder option on the reel, held the line in my left hand and waited for the action to begin and I did not wait long. after about ten minutes the line started to scream of the reel, after a short fight and nice ten pound common was landed. I had four more carp in the tree hour session, the best two going seventeen and eighteen pounds respectively. A two hour session next morning before breakfast yielded a cracking twenty-four and a half ponder and a second fish of good size lost. One of the other dads also caught a nice fish near by to me on a piece of maize I gave him. The only downside was when number one son decided to jump in the river with the camera in his pocket. His Mum is still not talking to him ! Ian
