If this counts as a match then I won !
Last Wednesday we at work had a get together and some of us had Margaritas ( not me honest !). I have three young colleagues WHO are known at work as the power rangers and after a few drinks their bravado prompted the to challenge me to a fishing match at the little lake near my house.
So Saturday at 12 o' the clock we convened at the lake. they brought with them a couple of friends, a side bet of $25 each was agreed to and the rules established. I had to fish with my 8 m pole but got to fish where I liked and had first choice. they could fish any LEGAL method and roam around.
The water was clear and quit cold and after a careful first 20 minutes with out a bite I introduced the secret weapon, walnut size balls of ground bait this a teaspoon of B mixed into it. The bites were tentative but started to come. 3 to 4 small 'gils for every ball put in. My other little trick was, every 20-30 seconds I would lift the bait off the bottom a few inches, this resulted in me hooking fish which had not registered a bite on the float or caused a bite almost straight away.
After 3 hours we weight in. I had about 50 small perch for about 4 lb, the power rangers and friend had 8 perch between then for maybe 8oz. I was $125 better off, but more importantly some Monday morning bragging rights.
I am in total agreement with Tarps, B is brilliant in cold water.

P.s. I did treat the power rangers to a consolation lunch on Monday !
